Open World is a ten-day program which brings emerging leaders from Eurasia to the United States to engage with professional counterparts.

„Helping the Helpers” – COIL launched its programs for Poland and Romania this week with its first-ever programming on mental health, second-language learning and so on. This cohort is focused on helping Romanian teachers integrate Ukrainian newcomers in Romanian schools.

We’ve been to DC and Cleveland Ohio for 10 years. Tomorrow is the last day. We were hosted in families and beyond and extremely rich education experience, the cultural part was unbelievable. It totally scores in my top 3 experience ever.

The program was started in 1999 by US Congress from the initiative of two famous scholars: Academician Dmitriy Likhachov and Dr. James Billington. In 2003 the program was spread to Ukraine. Open World Program is designed to enhance mutual understanding and cooperation between Ukraine and USA by providing Ukrainian leaders an opportunity to meet with their American counterparts and exchange thoughts and ideas on the most important issues.

Open World Program is the only exchange program within the US legislative branch and receives annual funding from US Congress. Program management is done by Open World Leadership Center at the Library of Congress – an independent federal agency ruled by the Board of Trustees
