I’m glad to share that Club România launched its ninth documentary volume, focusing on Romania’s OECD accession process. This comprehensive work, skillfully coordinated by Stoian Marius, Radu Puchiu, and Ramona Jurubita, marks a pivotal moment in the public discourse about Romania’s next strategic milestone.

Having previously coordinated Club România’s first documentary volume on Energy, I am particularly honored to contribute to this new milestone publication. Through my contribution to the energy chapter, I outlined three crucial actions supporting Romania’s OECD membership journey:

1️⃣ The adoption of a climate framework law that:
• Enshrines climate neutrality by 2050 and establishes interim reviews
• Allocates clear responsibilities and accountability mechanisms
• Creates an independent advisory body for monitoring and implementation

2️⃣ Accelerating renewable energy development through:
• Streamlining permitting processes in designated acceleration areas
• Enhancing grid infrastructure to accommodate new renewable capacity
• Efficient absorption of EU funds (PNRR and Modernization Fund) for renewables deployment

3️⃣ Implementation of energy communities by:
• Creating a supportive regulatory framework for both renewable (REC) and citizen (CEC) energy communities
• Ensuring proper digitalization of distribution networks
• Developing specific financing schemes and incentives for community members

This book launch comes at a critical juncture in Romania’s path within the Western institutional architecture. After two decades of profound transformations anchored in NATO and EU membership, Romania is now taking steps toward joining the „club of advanced economies” amid unprecedented global geopolitical and economic reconfigurations.

The volume transcends traditional academic analysis – it’s a transformation document capturing Romania at a moment of strategic recalibration, transitioning from a beneficiary of international standards to an active contributor in shaping them.

On a personal note, this contribution was particularly meaningful as it represented a true family effort – a joint project with my husband, Pintea Viorel, reflecting our shared commitment to Romania’s sustainable energy future.
