Europe urgently needs a new security concept – that is the essence of the new book “Europe and the Emerging New Global Order – Rethinking Europe’s Security Framework” (ISBN 978-3-98674-134-1), which will be available ahead of the Munich Security Conference 2025. The foreword was written by the Chairman of the Munich Security Conference (MSC), Ambassador Dr. Christoph Heusgen, the preamble by Diplomatic Council (DC) Secretary General Hang Nguyen.
The publication details a comprehensive reorganisation of Europe’s politics and economy to meet the evolving security requirements in the context of global tectonic power shifts. The range of subjects addressed in this 524 pages book is extensive, encompassing political settings, military considerations, the resilience of the economy during geopolitical mega-events, and the impacts of climate change on Europe’s security. The work’s editors are Ambassador Prof. Dr. Heinrich Kreft, President of the Diplomatic Council (DC), Jochen Richter, Chairman of the DC Global Security Forum, and Dr. Horst Walther, DC Commissioner for UN Affairs, who have all published trend-setting articles in the work, for which we are grateful. The Diplomatic Council is a global think tank in Consultative Status with the United Nations.
A big thank you to the 21 authors who have contributed to the book including Stacy Cummings, General Manager of the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA), Dr. Alina Bargaoanu, Advisory Board Member of the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO), Stephan J. Kramer, President of the Thuringian State Intelligence Office, the climate researcher Dr. Judith Curry, who frequently speaks at US Senate hearings, the White Hacker Marc Ruberg, responsible for the university network of the state of Baden-Württemberg, the moral theologian Prof. Dr. Peter Schallenberg, State Secretary Simona Cojocaru from the Romanian Ministry of Defense, defence experts George Scutaru and Răzvan Ceuca, political advisors Dorin Gal and Qaiser Jamal, the Italian political commentator Dr. Ciro Maddaloni from „Giornale Diplomatico”, the CEO of Silicon Valley Europe, Michael Mattis, the entrepreneurs Dr. Harald Schönfeld and André Schulte-Südhoff, as well as the Executive Chairman of the Diplomatic Council, Andreas Dripke.
Ambassador Dr. Christoph Heusgen, Chairman Munich Security Conference: „This book explores the pressing challenges and proposes strategies for effectively addressing them. Europe must adapt its policies, respond to citizens’ concerns, communicate its decisions transparently, and continually remind Europeans why keeping the European dream alive is worth every effort.”
