On March 24, 2016, the Romanian Ambassador to the United States, George Cristian Maior, participated at a round table organized by the American – Romanian Business Council (AMRO). The event was honored by the participation of US Ambassador to Romania, Hans G. Klemm, first of its kind which was attended by both US and Romanian Ambassadors.

The event featured a number of AMRO companies, including: ADM, Cargill, Textron, ExxonMobil, Parsons, Amerocap, Lockheed Martin, Coca-Cola, Amgen, MetLife.

The main topics discussed were related to the intensification of economic relations between Romania and the United States, as well as ways to attract new US investment in our country, in the context of deepening economic dimension of the Strategic Partnership between the two countries.

In this regard, Ambassador George Cristian Maior highlighted the priority he attaches to the development of economic diplomacy and the great potential for enhanced cooperation between Romania and the United States at this level.

George Cristian Maior pointed Romanian economy performance and its positive forecasts, encouraging US investors to capitalize on the opportunities offered by Romania for increased investment in our country.

„Attracting investments and developing the economic relations between Romania and the US is one of the priorities of my mandate as ambassador, both countries having great potential for enhancing the economic cooperation,” he said at the end of the meeting.

The head of the Romanian diplomatic mission reiterated Romania’s commitment to further improve the business environment and showed that the support provided by US Department of Commerce in drafting the Action Plan and more recently, its interest in the project of establishing an Agency for foreign investment, demonstrates the commitment and importance the US gives to the relationship with our country.

In turn, representatives of the companies presented the activities they carry out in Romania and exposed future plans they intend to implement. They showed their interest in contributing further to amplify the Romanian-US trade, appreciating the openness of the Romanian institutions and reiterating the need for continuity of government policies in terms of fiscal stability and investment climate.
