This is a long-time research project, even if the project of writing a book together with Springer started during the summer of 2020 (yes, the pandemic). This project has been awarding me with truly meaningful study trips in the Eurasian borderlands, having the chance to have really interesting conversations about the challenges of the European borderlands. But also challenged my beliefs as I dived into data analysis (good ol’ statistics) for understanding some of the socio-economic realities I was only observing in my readings and during my trips.
