The Primate of the Cypriot Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Father Georgios, the Archbishop of Nova Iustiniana and of all Cyprus, visited Romania on the occasion of the feast of Saint Demetrius the New, the protector of Bucharest, at the invitation of His Beatitude Daniel, the Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church.
The Archbishop of Cyprus brought the relics of Saint Lazar to the country, to the joy of the Orthodox believers in Romania. It was, as usual, an impressive celebration, attended by thousands of believers.
The relations between the two fraternal Churches are excellent and represent an important support for the Romanian community in Cyprus.
I would like to thank the two dignitaries of the Church, Blessed Father Daniel and Blessed Father Georgios, for the words of praise they publicly addressed to the Embassy of Romania in the Republic of Cyprus and to me personally, in front of thousands of believers, as well as in front of the members of the Holy Synod . I will devote energy in the future to strengthen the excellent relationship between the two Churches.
