War affects women and men differently. Gender-based violence increases during and after conflicts, and in most cases, women’s participation in peacebuilding and conflict resolution processes is limited. The distinguished speakers will address the consequences of war on women’s lives in three war zones – Ukraine, Afghanistan and Georgia’s breakaway Abkhazia –, women’s involvement in negotiation and reconstruction processes, initiatives of women’s empowerment on the ground, and how war has affected them personally.
