Happy to see that my policy recommendations on the need to include more women and a gender-responsive approach to EU’s humanitarian and emergency assistance made it to EURACTIV’s „Health Brief: Leave no one behind” (see the brief here https://rb.gy/6car3o)
I truly hope that some EU policymakers read my piece and apply some of the policy recommendations mentioned there. The Ukrainian women’s needs and voices should be included in the humanitarian response and their human rights and safety must be respected. In the 21st century, we must stop the barbaric use of sexual violence as a tactic of war. Women’s bodies are not a battlefield. The international community should halt impunity on sexual violence against women and push for rapes to be judged as war crimes.
