When i was 7 years old and smaller, my father (who was a naval engineer and i thought it was the coolest thing you could do) used to take me to the Danube shore in Tulcea to see various cargo ships passing by under so many foreign flags. I used to ask him where they come from and where would they go.

It was still communism in Romania and ships meant freedom. Later, I trained as a sociologist and loved to seek where ideas, habits and opinions come and how they evolve.

And afterwards I got the chance to work in finance with an equal fascination to understand how business ideas travel the world and how money flows carrying the past and the future on their back. It’s fun. And somehow what I always wanted to know: where ships come from and where they go.
