Ömer Tetik: The World Banking Needs to Adapt Or Perish

„The world of banking is in turmoil. It is faced with myriad challenges and dangers and while battling them all we tend to overlook the biggest of all: the way consumers deal with banks is changing rapidly and for good. And banks need to adapt. Like in the parable of David and Goliath, size is no longer the key to success as consumer preferences shift and power moves back from bankers to clients. The Goliath of banks is facing the nimble and agile David of the modern consumer. It needs to adapt or perish” – Ömer Tetik, special guest at „Change To Perform. Culture or Structure”.

Ömer Tetik is the CEO of Banca Transilvania since June 2013. During his 18 years of experience in finance, he has worked in Romania, Turkey and Russia. He started his career at Finansbank, in Istanbul, as Treasury Dealer. He moved on to Moscow as Executive Treasury Manager at Finansbank Moscow and was later appointed President of Finans Securities Bucharest. Following the rebranding of Finansbank Romania as Credit Europe Bank Romania, he held the position of Executive Manager and Vice-President of the Treasury Division, Vice-President of the Retail Banking Division, and First Vice-President, becoming the bank’s CEO starting with 2010.

Omer Tetik, father of two, is a Romanian citizen of Turkish descent, who was born in Germany. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Economics – Middle East Technical University from Ankara and speaks fluently 4 languages, including Romanian.
