Mr. Maciej Popowski, Director General at European Commission’s DG ECHO (European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations) visited the Euro-Atlantic Resilience Centre today, accompanied by Mr. Raed Arafat, Head of the Department for Emergency Situations and member of E-ARC’s Advisory Board.

Mr. Popowski discussed with the leadership of the Centre the Commission’s priorities for the next two years, with particular focus on the work that needs to be done in support of Ukraine and Moldova, but also with regard to the internal procedures of the EU, with the aim of incorporating resilience as a core value and pervasive preoccupation.

The two sides discussed about the opportunity of E-ARC becoming a member of DG ECHO’s Knowledge Network. The Centre’s experience in several areas, such as organizing table-top exercises and providing technical assistance to countries in the immediate neighbourhood of NATO and the EU, will be taken into account in future activities of the Commission.
