Protests in Israel, those in France like the uprising encouraged by Trump in America two years ago, and the examples can continue including protests a few years ago in Romania, tell me that we are gradually losing an essential ingredient of liberal democracy.

Democratic vote is one way to manage peacefully the transition of power to avoid regular political violence. Winning with 70%, 60% or often 51% does not give a temporary majority the right to force radical changes that a significant (and temporary) minority does not want. Not even mentioning the fact that the winners are not allowed to touch the rights of the losers. This is why we married democracy with liberalism, this is why we have a constitution and the rule of law.

Winning an election does not eliminate the need for compromise in a democracy,it only temporarily decides who is responsible to generate and administer it in any issue,economic,judicial,cultural,religious. The absence of this understanding and the tendency to turn the democratic alternative into an outright war of one side of society against the other is in fact the abandonment of democracy and the path to hell paved with false entitlement.

No idea, however important, can justify the descent into chaos and violence. Only the protection of liberty and democracy can push us to take this step.

All those who lead us on this path, violent illiterate or prophetic intellectuals, are unable to understand the political consequences of their own intransigence and only serve us on a platter of those who will trample on the rights of all of us, the overwhelming majority who have no way to want it to myself this final destination.
