Transnational experts and government officials participate in the ‘Cyber Intelligence Europe’, a premiere top event for Romania hosted in Bucharest from Monday through Wednesday.

According to an organizers’ release to AGERPRES on Tuesday, the event includes a workshop on defence against cyber-attacks.

The list of foreign guests includes Helmut Habermayer, Cyber-Coordinator and Head, Military Strategy Division, Federal Ministry of Defence and Sports of the Republic of Austria; Dr Steve Purser, Head of Core Operations Department of the European Union Agency for Network and Information Security (ENISA); and Daniel Peder Bagge, expert of the National Cyber Security Center, National Security Authority of the Czech Republic.

The conference is organized by the Intelligence-Sec company, specializing in events on security topics, in a partnership with the Strategikon think tank, represented by vice presidents Teodor Frunzeti, Eugen Valeriu Popa, Corneliu Visoianu and Radu Magdin (conference chair), as speakers, and with the Centre of Security Analysis and Studies.

„Intelligence-Sec is glad about the occasion to bring the ‘Cyber Intelligence Europe’ annual event to Bucharest and to offer the officials in this region the possibility of discussing shared strategies and security issues faced by the computer networks of the public institutions in this part of Europe. As the cyber-security is growing more complex, facing increasingly sophisticated attacks, it is important for the governments to share information and experience when confronted by cyber-criminals, in the context offered in the region by the ‘Cyber Intelligence Europe’ event,” the aforementioned release quotes Intelligence-Sec Executive Director Martyn Hill.

Eugen Popa, Strategikon vice president for cyber-security, pointed out the importance of the event for the Romanian environment: „The level of information security and cyber-attacks we’re witnessing today no longer resumes to a couple of small companies and limited networks, but to information crimes that directly impact the state institutions and the big market players. Owing to the increasingly high level of interdependence of information system and multiple sides of our daily lives, prevention must become a major concern in terms of risk management, and the protection and goal prioritization strategies must be in accordance with the vulnerabilities map. International cooperation is the key.”.

The 2015 Cyber Intelligence Europe is the third in a series that gradually becomes one of the most important in this field, bringing together national, regional and European government officials, experts and businesspeople to build a communication and collaboration bridge defending against major cyber-attacks.AGERPRES
