In preparation of this Summit, we are engaging in a worldwide consultation of relevant experts, on the main challenges for good governance today! Your input is highly appreciated and will be included in the pre-summit Report which Strategikon will circulate with all the relevant stakeholders. The names and affiliation of all those responding to this survey will be mentioned.

Now, more than ever, state officials must cooperate with their counterparts and also with the private sector and academia. The event aims to provide such a framework through round table talks, which can be further continued by business meetings.

The first panel of the event, Romanian Perspectives on Good Governance,will examine Romania’s path from 1989 to joining the EU and NATO, then the disconnect of leaders and citizens of the past few years, and looking towards the Council of the EU Presidency in 2019. The second panel, Change Management in European Democracies, will look at past liberal transitions to learn  lessons for dealing with current challenges, such as Brexit, mass migration, the rise of populist messages and populist politicians.The remarkable rise of the Asian economies and their increased role in the global political scene, underlined by the first-ever speech at Davos by China’s Xi Jinping defending globalisation, as well as the threat of ISIS inspired the third panel: Good Governance in the Middle East and South-East Asia. We live in a fast-paced and interconnected world where breakthrough technologies, demographic shifts and political transformations have far-reaching societal and economic consequences. The panel on the Overarching Challenges of Good Governance will tackle the issues affecting and influencing peace, prosperity and security across states.
