✓ Economic challenges impact the entire ecosystem, and Europe is adapting to these shifts more slowly than the US—at a time when speed is more critical than ever. The first PitchBook report for 2024 shows a 5% YoY decline in investment activity in the EU, while the US saw a 16% YoY increase.
✓ Every thriving innovation ecosystem prioritizes early-stage investments because hashtag#VC follows a power-law dynamic. Unfortunately, Romania lacks early-stage funds to sustain innovation, and political instability risks amplifying the pressure on angel investors even further. More local pre-seed and seed funds are essential for a healthy ecosystem.
✓ A strong culture of partnership and entrepreneurial spirit are vital for building future success stories. We must work closely with founding teams to equip them for global markets.
